You may be eligible if:

• Child must be aged between 4–18 years
• Live in Australia (including temporary visa holders and refugees)
• Have a diagnosis of permanent hair loss confirmed by a qualified medical professional
• Household income must be $100,000 or less per year

If you are reapplying:
• Previous recipients may reapply after 24 months
• Unsuccessful applicants may reapply after 12 months

What Variety Can Support

Up to $5,000 towards the cost of a wig
Specialised wigs can be costly and often need replacing every few years.

Through our Wig Grant program, Variety can provide funding towards:
• Human hair wigs
• Synthetic wigs
• Wig purchases from your chosen supplier

Families are encouraged to explore any government subsidies available in their state before applying.

Documents Required To Apply

These documents are usually easy to gather and many families already have them ready.

A medical letter

A letter from your child's doctor, GP or paediatrician confirming diagnosis of permanent hair loss dated within the last 12 months

Wig Quote

Quote from your chosen supplier less than 3 months old

Proof of household income

Provide one of the following for each parent or carer:

• Most recent Centrelink Income Statement
• Two most recent payslips
• Three months of bank statements (if not working)

How the Application Process Works

Our team carefully and confidentially reviews every application. You will be notified of the outcome within 6–12 weeks. If approved, the grant must be used within 12 months of the approval date.

Application

Fill in the form, include documents, letters and quotes.

Assessment

Our team reviews your application to make sure it meets the guidelines and may request additional Information if required. If eligible, it will be reviewed by our Kids Support Committee then if recommended the application will go to the Variety Board for final approval.

Outcome

Every submitted application will receive written confirmation of the outcome of their application via email.

Successful applicants will be asked to complete a short survey to help Variety measure their impact. This will be emailed to the applicants.
